Real Housewives of Atlanta castmember Kandi Burrus' fiance A.J. Jewell was killed in a brawl outside an Atlanta strip club. According to witnesses, A.J. sustained a severe blow to the head in the parking lot outside the Body Tap gentlemen's club. He later died at an area hospital. Kandi and A.J. had agreed to take a break from their engagement with Kandi retaining custody of A.J.'s twin teenage daughters to offer them stability. Somehow, Kandi found the strength to Twitter:

According to TMZ, a woman in the marketing and advertising field named Alexsandra Wright has filed a paternity case against Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles. Wright is six months pregnant. Knowles has been married to his wife--not Ms. Wright--for the past 29 years.
Is this cute? Tyra Banks had 9-year-old Diva Davanna on America's Next Top Model to demonstrate modeling to the contestants. She came out dressed as a twin to Ms. Jay (who even with makeup looks like...Mr. Jay) and strutted on that runway like her name was Eva Pigford. She looked and modeled just as well or better than the adult contestants on the show. My question is, should a 9-year-old be tarted up with weave and heavy makeup and be twisting and serving it up? The View cohost Sherri Shepherd stars in her own sitcom on Lifetime. The show, loosely based on Shepherd’s life, will be about a woman who invites her husband’s mistress and illegitimate child to move in to their house. The comedy which is the first wholly owned by Lifetime premieres Monday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m., prior to moving into its regular time slot, Tuesdays at 10 p.m. where everyone will be sure to see it.
Fugees frontman Wyclef Jean is going back to study at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Wyclef, 36, dropped out of college after his first semester to devote his full attention to his group The Fugees. He starts classes Monday.

Anita Tedaldi, mother to five girls and wife to a deployed soldier, adopted a South American boy who’d been abandoned by the side of a road. The boy failed to develop a familial bond with Tedaldi or her daughters (like somehow it was his fault). So Tedaldi “returned” her adopted son like a failed product after eighteen months of being his mother. Of course, Tedaldi wrote a blog about her experience and it caught the attention of the NY Times and the Today show. Mind you Tedaldi also wrote an article entitled, 'We Can't Trade In Our Children or Husbands', in January 2008 on the site military.com.

The Mayor of Newark, New Jersey has banned Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien from landing and taking off from the Newark Airport because of jokes he made about the city during his monologue.
R&B singer Brian McKnight is the latest celebrity to run into tax problems, with public records showing the IRS filing a $257,345 lien against him in the New York City register's office.
McKnight's last studio album came out in 2006 and peaked at number 32 on The Billboard 200 -- his worst showing since his debut in 1992.
In recent years, McKnight has shifted his focus to television -- appearing as a contestant on Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice. The 40-year old is also set to host a one-hour weekly entertainment show on CW Plus.
Given McKnight's large fan base, a $250,000 tax lien isn't such a big deal -- assuming it isn't a symptom of other more serious financial problems.
Kanye West and Lady Gaga's co-headlining Fame Kills Tour has been canceled, according to a press release from tour promoter Live Nation.
No reason was given for the cancellation (poor ticket sales). The press release stated that refunds are available at the point of purchase, and that tickets purchased online and via phone will be refunded automatically.
Rumors about the tour's possible cancellation have been swirling for days, largely related to the negative publicity stemming from West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards last month. But the stunning collapse of Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Friday--despite personal lobbying by President Obama, the city was knocked out in the first round of voting by the International Olympic Committee--needs to put into proper perspective: This is a major disappointment, not a crushing calamity.
Chicago is a resilient city. It has been through worse. And it will rise again. While it is a shame that Chicago did not get a chance to put its Olympic ideas into practice. It would be a greater shame, now that the city has lost its bid, if these ideas withered on the vine instead of flowering, as they should.
RIO was always on lock for the 2016 bid simply because the Olympics have never been held in South America.

I will post this story later today when I have time. (It's crunch time at work.) Basically, Michael had no major health conditions which would have killed him. He had no meds in his system other than those given that last night by Dr. Murray. He was NOT on any drugs and had no alcohol at all in his blood stream. He was in good physical condition and would have put on a hell of a show. RIP Michael!
Director Lee Daniels had to warn Mariah Carey to drop the diva act if she wanted to participate in the movie Precious. Daniels told Mariah to leave all her star trappings at home. "If you come with a strip of makeup on," he recalls telling her, "I will have a backup (actress). I knew that she would be out of her safety zone, and I knew that there would be no one for her to rely on, to say, 'Get me this, get me that,'" he said. "I could see in her eyes... 'What is Lee doing to me?'" Daniels stripped down the Imperfect Angel's image so much she is said to have disappeared into the role; all you see is the dowdy social worker, not the mega-selling, Grammy Award-winning superstar.
For her part, Carey was greatful for the challenge. "That was such a freeing experience for me," she said. "By making me look so bad he brought out the ability to never be self-conscious again, and that was a gift that he gave me."
What recession? Michael Jordan has plans to build a megamansion in the town of Jupiter, Florida. The plans for his 37,942-square-foot two-story home have already been approved. The home, which sits on two adjacent lots, will feature 11 bedrooms, an elevator, a fireplace, a detached cottage and it's own guard gate. The home lot already sits within the gated Bears Club community which was founded by golf great Jack Nickalaus. The lot contains a wooded area and abuts a luxury golf course. It was purchased for $4.8 million. Construction of the home is estimated at an additional $7,627,700.
A good Samaritan perched atop a fourth-floor fire escape helped firefighters stage a dramatic rescue of a young boy from a burning Bronx apartment on Wednesday.
Firefighters from the FDNY's Ladder 47 raced to 1418 Zerega Ave. in Westchester Square shortly after 4 p.m. and found a fourth-floor apartment ablaze - with two people trapped inside. The truck's ladder was raised up to the burning apartment's window and Firefighter James Senk scampered up it - and bashed his way inside.Once inside the smoke-filled apartment, Senk found a 4-year-old boy a short distance from the window.
"He goes 10 feet deep into the the room, and pulls the kid out to the window," a Fire Department source said.
Just outside the window, neighborhood hero Horia Cretan - who had shot up the fire escape when he saw the blaze - waited to make sure the seriously injured boy made it to safety and performed CPR.
The firefighter passed the boy into Cretan's waiting arms, officials said.
Cretan then bravely carried the child down the fire escape and handed him over to rescue workers.
He said he just reacted instinctively.
"I heard somebody scream; I didn't know what was happening outside," he told Fox 5 News."I looked up and just couldn't see nothing - there was too much smoke. I just kicked in - I kicked in gear. ... I did the best I could."
The boy, who was not immediately identified, was in serious but stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center Wednesday night.

The world's 19th largest diamond was unearthed this week in the Cullinan Mine in South Africa. The type II white diamond weighs in at 507.55 carats and is worth upwards of $18.5 million.
Petra Diamonds owns a 37% interest in the mine, Saudi economic group Al Rajhi owns 37%, and the remaining 26% is owned by Petra's Black Economic Empowerment partners, which includes a workers' share trust. Despite the BEE partners ownership share, complaints of discrimination abound at the mine. Allegedly, white workers are paid more than Black workers for the same jobs, whites receive preference for promotions, and the majority of supervisors are still white. Petra Diamonds bought the mine from de Beers last year. De Beers operated and profited greatly from the mine throughout South Africa's system of apartheid. The mine produces a quarter of the world's diamonds.
Tuesday night on So You Think You Can Dance auditions in the ATL, an aspiring contestant reacted to some good news by rolling on the floor in her short skirt, exposing her bare crotch to primetime America and inviting the wrath of the FCC. Then maybe she didn't. After the video and stills were posted online, SYTYCD producer Nigel Lythgoe made the seeming statement of admission to TMZ, "The show was always designed to expose talent, but not in this way." During his speech, President Clinton urged the United States to extend temporary protected status to Haitians living in the country illegally--the same status currently extended to Cubans who touch dry land in the country. Clinton is the special envoy to Haiti.

Hollywood is deeply divided about whether or not to support embattled director Roman Polanski. Polanski was arrested last week by Swiss authorities working on behalf of the United States as a result of his flight 32 years ago after pleading guilty to "unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor" in conjunction with his rape of a 13-year old girl. Polanski was 44 at the time of the rape.
According to testimony, Polanski invited an aspiring 13-year-old model to the home of Jack Nicholson (he was not home) to take pictures for French Vogue. He gave her champagne and quaaludes and had her undress. He photographed her in the house then made her get into the jacuuzi naked. He joined her without her clothes, held her, then took her in the house and initiated oral sex. She repeatedly told him "no" "get away" and the like. He sodomized her repeatedly. She said she was afraid of him the entire time.
Polanski plead guilty, did a little over a month, then fled the country because he said he thought the judge would give him more time than they had agreed upon. He has been living free and wealthy in Europe, making films, and attending film festivals for the past 32 years.
When news of his arrest spred, some in the film industry have ridden to his defense. The ever-controversial Whoopi Goldberg said on The View, “I know it wasn’t rape-rape. I think it was something else, but I don’t believe it was rape-rape...We’re a different kind of society. We see things differently. The world sees 13-year-olds and 14-year-olds in the rest of Europe… not everybody agrees with the way we see things…”
Others, including Debra Winger, Angelica Houston, director Harvey Weinstein, and Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux have spoken out in his defense. While it may be true some countries think is is perfectly alright to marry off girls at the age of 7 or younger and many still rarely prosecute rape against females of any age, it is a point of pride that the United States is just a little more advanced in women's rights and prosecuting crimes against women.
I hope Whoopi and other Polanski defenders face a professional and social backlash as large or larger than the ones faced by Mel Gibson with his anti-Semitic comments, Michael Vick with his convictions for dog fighting, and Chris Brown with his guilty plea for domestic violence. People should be just as outraged at her suggestion that if your barely teenaged daughter/sister/cousin/friend were drugged, photographed naked, then repeatedly sodomized despite her resistance by a middle aged man it would not really be rape. These comments beg the question, what unspeakable horrors has her own daughter endured during her youth that were roundly dismissed by Ms. Goldberg?

(Juan Carlos is just as handsome in person as he is in pictures, by the way.) Can a President trump a King?
Street fighter turned Ultimate Fighter Kimbo Slice again failed to live up to hype in last night's match against Roy Nelson. Nelson laid out the inexperienced Slice and rained punches on his hefty frame. The ref saved him with the bell in the first round but had to call the fight in the second to prevent serious injury. UFC president hinted Slice might join the regular lineup on "The Ultimate Fighter"; because, of course, ratings matter more than ability.
Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, one of Michael Jackson's former spiritual advisors has been making the media rounds for the past two weeks to promote his latest exploitative moneygrubbing book detailing conversations he had with Michael.
According to tapes he made of these conversations, Boteach said Michael held women in high regard but at the same time was very suspicious of their motives; Michael had encountered many women who used their womanly wiles to manipulate the men around them:
Jackson: "Women can do some things that make guys very unhappy. I see it with my brothers. I see my brothers crying in tears and pulling the grass out of the lawn out of frustration because of their wives."
Boteach: "Do you think all their wives were interested more in their success than in them?"
Jackson: "Absolutely. They were after their money. That's why I said to myself, 'I'll never be married.' I held out the longest. I stayed at home until I was 27, 28."

President and Mrs. Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, and a host of other prominent Chicagoans are going to Copenhagen, Denmark this week to make a pitch to host the 2016 Olympics in Chicago, Illinois. They will compete against Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, and Madrid for the prestigious honor. Obama's trip marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has lobbied for the Olympics in person; leaders from the other three top contenders also plan to attend.
President Obama's trip has drawn sharp criticism from the right even though he plans to spend less than four hours on the ground in Denmark before returning home. "I think at a time of war, I think at a time of recession, at a time where Americans have expressed rather significantly their concerns and frustrations over the course of the spring and summer ... this trip, while nice, is not necessary for the president," Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said in a conference call with reporters Tuesday. Similarly, a small group of dissenters have organized anti-Olympic protests in Obama's home city of Chicago and one has gone so far as to set up an anti-Olympic website that lobbies for Rio to win the hosting.
Personally, I think people will go to every length to oppose any and everything the President does. Hosting the Olympics is a great international honor and would go a long way towards revitializing the local and national economy. The Olympics always brings hundreds of millions of dollars to the host city in the form of tourism, new construction, law enforcement funding, infrastructure improvements, and increased government accountability to citizenry. Chicago will no doubt be vastly improved in anticipation of the international spotlight. There is no down side here.

An undersea earthquake of magnitude 8.2 midway between Samoa and American Samoa triggered a massive tsunami that devastated the island nations. Residents of the islands fled at least four waves of 15 to 20 feet high as cars, people, and buildings were washed out to sea. An earthquake in Indonesia triggered a smaller tsunami, though the extent of that damage was faar less than the Pacific destruction. Hundreds of people were injured and so far 113 total are confirmed dead in American Samoa, Samoa, Tonga, and Australia. President Obama has declared a state of emergency in American Samoa and FEMA officials are en route from Hawaii.

Word has it Def Jam's LA Reid pressured Grace Miguel to resign last week. Miguel is rumored to have started an affair with Usher last year during his marriage to Tameka Foster; Miguel, 12 years his senior, was also married at the time. Reportedly, Reid thought the affair brought too much negative attention to the troubled label and was hurting Usher's already embattled image. Usher's fans had already been deserting him in droves due to his unpopular marriage to Foster. Allegedly their affair also began while she was married to another man.
Sources say the couple, who are both pending divorces, have been dating for several months.
No other details were available. Sharpton and his wife of 23 years, Kathy Jordan, were separated in 2004. Raye is currently separated from her husband of 3 years, Michael Misick.

Noting that the District is the "epicenter" of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation opened a free treatment clinic late last week. The opening of the AHF Blair Underwood Healthcare Center, named for the Hollywood actor and AIDS activist, was attended by Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and officials from the Obama administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the March of Dimes.
The city's infection rate, 3 percent, is the nation's worst, according to a study this year by its HIV/AIDS Administration. And the foundation, which calls itself the country's largest nonprofit HIV/AIDS health-care provider, came to the District because of its status as the "epicenter" of the disease, said its director, Michael Weinstein.
The city has begun to do a remarkable job in combating the disease after years of stagnation, but the "system of care is faltering in some respects," he said. The District needs to welcome any help it can get, Weinstein said, noting that its infection rate is higher than that of Lagos, Nigeria.

Southern California tailback Stafon Johnson had emergency throat surgery Monday after a weightlifting accident. Corbin Bleu Justin Guarini wed his childhood friend Reina Capodici this past Saturday in a private ceremony. Guarini, who was runner up to Kelly Clarkson on the first season of American Idol, and Capodici met in junior high school and have been together since 2007. Justin, 30, also became stepdad to Reina's 4-year-old daughter, Lola.

Reportedly, OK! Magazine doled out over $300,000 for the exclusive print rights to Lamar and Khloe's wedding on Sunday. Unfortunately for Lamar, he won't get a cut of the deal. Granted, OK! probably wouldn't give a damn about Lamar if he weren't marrying Khloe, and $300K is peanuts compared to his $30 million contract. Lindsay Lohan hosted the F1 Rocks concert series on Singapore over the weekend. The rapper took to his popular Twitter page on Sunday and denied reports that he was involved in a minor car accident the previous night in New York City.
The pain was so bad according to his account, the rapper pulled his vehicle over and called an ambulance which picked him up from the side of the road. This could account for inaccurate reports that the rapper was in the hospital in critical condition after a car accident. He believed he was poisoned but didn't elaborate.
