Man finds $3,100 in trash
A man in Stuart, Florida found $3,100 in cash while rummaging through the trash behind his apartment complex. Warren Bendix was sifting through garbage in a trash pile when he came across a framed photo of the Apollo 8 launch that caught his eye. He liked the photo but did not like the frame, so he set about removing it. He soon made a startling discovery: three envelopes containing 24 $100 bills and 35 $20 bills--$3,100 in all.
Instead of pocketing the money, Bendix called the Stuart police and turned the money in. "No, that large sum of money I wouldn't keep," Bendix said. "If it was something small maybe, but not that large sum of money. Somebody needed it. They lost it." Police traced the photo to the apartment of a deceased person; the complex had cleaned out the person's belongings and discarded them to ready the apartment for new occupants. If the sum of money goes unclaimed for 90 days, and police cannot find any heirs in that time, the money will go to Bendix.

Whitney Houston and Clive Davis are livid
Clive Davis and his biggest project yet, Whitney Houston, are livid that her new album I Look To You was completely overlooked for a Grammy nomination. Producers pushed up the release date of the album to make it eligible for Grammy nominations this year. Word is, they expected it to be nominated for album of the year, as well as other prestigious categories. The album was certified platinum at the end of November. Danja, who produced several tracks on the album had this to say to Billboard.com:
“I’m a little disappointed because she put together a classic album. Her overall comeback is something to be noted but I’m a believer that great people and great music will always show its head.”Whitney's label also released a statement:
“Considering the level of critical acclaim the album received and the sales to date, one million in the U.S. and two million worldwide, we’re surprised,” said Mika El-Baz.source

Diddy's got it like that
Supposedly Diddy gave his son Justin Dior Combs (he needs his ass whooped for naming him Dior) a $350,000 Maybach for his sixteenth birthday along with a $10,000 check to deposit in a bank account. What did you get for your sweet sixteenth? I just had a party. I think I would have been more impressed if he had given him a $10,000 car and $350,000 to deposit in the bank, but I guess I have my priorities screwed up. That must be it.

Rapper Trina might adopt a Haitian child
Rapper Trina, made famous by her association with Slip-n-Slide Records, isn't stopping with telethons when it comes to helping the people of Haiti. She released the following statement via her publicist:
“With the current state that Haiti is in right now, I personally feel like donating monetary and physical possessions is an enormous and vast donation; however, I would like to contribute on a higher level for more personal reasons like being ready to raise/nurture a child and by being involved on a day to day basis,” Trina states.
“The tragic and untimely list of events that have happened in Haiti–even before the recent “Earthquake”–have made me realize how blessed I am as an individual. I want to share that with a child who is a victim in this disturbing time, in addition to adding on to my immediate family circle.”
“I am in the financial position to adopt, therefore, I am taking it into deep consideration at this time. I have always admired other individuals for adopting children not so much for their celebrity status, but more so because of the nurturing and invaluable change and joy it will bring to a child’s life.”
“Lastly, the fact that I am considering adopting a child from Haiti is even more significant to me because a great deal of adopted children come into the United States from larger countries–like China, Russia and African countries. I also have family members that are of Haitian descent.”

You might be a Negro
Controversy has erupted because the United States Census Bureau continues to include "Negro" as a racial designation on its census forms. The Census Bureau is gearing up to mail out the forms for its once-a-decade nationwide count. The forms traditionally include questions about household income, ages of occupants, and race. Under this year's question, "what is this person's race?", choices include "Black, African Am., or negro". The inclusion of a word that is now practically only found in the names of one our oldest civic organizations, The United Negro College Fund, has drawn the ire of some civil rights organizations. Personally, I usually respond with curiosity whenever someone uses the term "negro" to describe someone's race; utterance of the term "colored" elicits the same reaction as would the appearance of the now-extinct Do Do bird. The Census Bureau is toying with deleting the term along with deleting or rearranging several other questions about race and ethnicity.

Prince pens a 'Super Bowl Shuffle' for his Vikings
Prince released a new song about the Minnesota Vikings.
Prince said he hadn’t seen the Vikings play in a very long time, until he went to the game against the Dallas Cowboys last week.
“I saw the future,” said Prince.
He said he went home that night, wrote the song, "Purple and Gold," and said the song came easy and fast.
The Vikings love it and plan to put it on their website.
The new song by Prince was released just ahead of the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints.
