Prince pens a 'Super Bowl Shuffle' for his Vikings

Prince released a new song about the Minnesota Vikings.

Prince said he hadn’t seen the Vikings play in a very long time, until he went to the game against the Dallas Cowboys last week.

“I saw the future,” said Prince.

He said he went home that night, wrote the song, "Purple and Gold," and said the song came easy and fast.

The Vikings love it and plan to put it on their website.

The new song by Prince was released just ahead of the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints.

Purple Rain turned 25 yesterday

Prince's groundbreaking film Purple Rain turned 25 yesterday. Did you know Wendy and Lisa dated for 20 years? Did you know Vanity was supposed to play Prince's girlfriend in the film, but they broke up before filming started? He searched for another LSLH woman to replace her and offered the part to Jennifer Beals. Beals turned it down to focus on college, opening the door for Apollonia to rise to short-lived stardom. (Let's face it, she was no Vanity!) Did you know that before Morris Day was in the Time, he gave Prince a song for his Dirty Minds album? Really, how many people can say they "gave" a song to Prince of all people?

Prince performed on the next to the Last Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday. I thought he was going to come on and work up a black sweat, but this was nice. It was a very chill moment on a hyped up show. I'll miss Leno.

Prince ain’t anyone’s guitar hero

Prince was approached by the makers of the video game Guitar Hero with a deal to put his music on the phenomenally popular series. He turned them down and had this to say on The Tavis Smiley Show:

"I ain't mad at them. I hear it made, like, $2 billion and they came to us and offered us a very small portion of that. I just think it's more important that kids learn how to actually play the guitar."

Prince defended old fashioned musicianship saying, "It's a tough instrument - it's not easy. It took me a long time, and it was frustrating at first. And you just have to stick with it, and it's cool for people who don't have time to learn the chords or ain't interested in it. But to play music is one of the greatest things."
