Keyshia Cole explains her particular family drama
Keyshia Cole released a statement about her family drama with Frankie and Neffe through her publicist:
STATEMENT FROM KEYSHIA COLE
“To all my friends and fans – It’s time that I clear the air. It’s not a secret that I haven’t been in contact with my mother Frankie, and my sisters Neffe and Elite and I never wanted to air out our differences to the public. While I won’t go into detail here I find it necessary to let you guys know I decided to stop communication with them because I was at a point in my life where I needed serenity and peace to move forward. Please know I love my family very much but it was time to let it go. You guys are a witness to a lot of what was happening from watching on air and online. Now that I am becoming a mom my passion for having a loving and peaceful home for my child is my #1 priority. It’s very important to both Daniel and I. My plate is very full; I have a new baby coming, we are planning our wedding and I am working in the studio on a new album that I am close to completing. The stress that my family is giving me with their constant false reports is not healthy and it’s not what I need at this time in my life. Please understand that there are only a few people that can officially confirm or deny anything that’s happening in my life and that’s me, Daniel, and my publicist, Tresa Sanders. And my girl Monica never lies.”

KC

The View makes another rape misstep
ABC's "Modern Family" star Sophia Vergara visited the women of the View to promote her new show. When asked how her character could possibly have a 18-year-old son, she jokes "I was raped at 13!" The View cast laughed along with her, but this is not funny. You might recall how Whoopi Goldberg stepped in a steaming pile a month or so ago regarding the Roman Polanski extradition when she said "I mean it wasn't rape rape?" Outrageously, the media seems to have forgotten her remarks and let her off the hook. I haven't.

Attorney Urges Record Companies to Enforce Codes of Conduct

Lauren Raysor (pic above) held a press conference Monday afternoon (August 24), where the lawyer called for record labels to help regulate artists’ off-wax behavior. Raysor is the attorney who helped put Bronx rapper Remy Ma behind bars for shooting her client Makeda Barnes-Joseph. The conference, which commemorated the two-year anniversary of the shooting, put the burden on record companies to provide guidance to artists.
“We have to tell the shareholders of these major corporations that they have to not take money and profit from kids that are killing themselves,” Raysor said. “They have a responsibility to tell these record labels that you at least have to do a little bit more for these young people, show them what the business is like.”
Raysor propositioned that labels put a “morality clause” in their artists’ contracts, providing monetary incentive for artists to not engage in violent or criminal acts. She compared the music industry to the NBA and NFL, both leagues that enforce codes of conduct.
“It is your outside behavior we are talking about,” she said. “We’re not talking about what you write.” The next step is to meet with label execs in an effort put the morals clause into effect. What do you think?
