Lil Wayne had to report to the pen

Lil Wayne had to report for his one year prison sentence today.  He spent his last night of freedom communicating with his fans on Ustream.  During his broadcast he had a visit from Fat Joe and took an emotional phone call from Drake.  He had this message for his fans:
“To all my real fans, I really, really really really love you. I love you with all of me for real. I love you all so much, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And do not forget about me, because I will never forget about you. And i cannot wait for you to see me again. I’m out.”

No word on how his children or babymamas are coping.

Drake and Sade Collabo in the Works?

Rap newcomer Drake has high hopes for a planned collaboration with 80's soul great Sade after revealing he's making good progress in negotiations with the reclusive star. Drake's debut album has become one of hip-hop's most anticipated releases for 2010 following the star's double Grammy nod for his hit single Best I Ever Had.

The rapper recently confessed he is eyeing a rare duet with Sade, telling MTV News, "I had a wish list for my managers of everybody I wanted involved (in the album) that stem beyond hip-hop. I'm trying to pull it all together. I'm really trying to work with Sade."

The Smooth Operator singer is preparing to release her first album in 10 years on St. Valentine's Day and Drake admits his dream of a collaboration is slowly turning into a reality.Drake insists the duet will only go ahead if the song is perfect for both artists and if it's anything like "Best" he don't have a chance.

You can listen to Sade's 'Soldier of Love' single HERE.

Is Drake the best Trey Songz' girl's ever had?

Trey Songz and Drake are skinny dipping in the same pool. Trey's latest girlfriend Tanaya were spotted canoodling at Diddy's party and usually appear to be the picture of industry happiness, but according to Blogxilla, it just ain't so. Supposedly, Tanaya was also spotted kicking it with Drake at the Kid Cudi video shoot and they have been creeping for a minute.

Why the hell do you get to party?

Why the hell do you get to party when you have been sentenced to prison in one state and have pending charges in another? The rich really are different. Weezy and rumored girlfriend/label mate Shanell partied it up in Atlanta this past Friday to celebrate Shanell's birthday. The shin dig was 'star-studded' with luminaries as D. Woods (stay with me here), Neffe, and his boy Drake. Contrary to rumors, Nivea was NOT giving birth at the time. She Twitter-corrected that with the quickness.

Drake has eggwhites egg on his face

Drake has eggwhites egg on his face after indignantly blogging that Kia Shine was lying about writing some of "Best I Ever Had." Kia Shine was photographed holding up three BMI awards for Drake's smash hit "Best I Ever Had" sparking rumors he was a ghostwriter for the song. Kia Shine released a statement claiming a publishing percentage for Drake's album because it sampled a song he had written:

Drake sampled the melody, some of the words, cadence, etc. So because I had
already registered the original record, my business was in order. I sent in the
Drake record and let my legal team handle it from there. We were able to settle
at 25% of the “Best I Ever Had” publishing. It’s a blessing, but the moral of
the story is to “follow up to get your dollars up” and always be prepared and on
top of your business.
Drake denied Kia's claims in his own blog, in essence saying he was lying:

There have been questions posed to me the last few days about the writing of
Best I Ever Had and I figured I’d take the time to clear the air directly. I
have never met Kia Shine or worked with him. I wrote the entire composition in
Toronto and I borrowed one line from a Lil Wayne song that he produced the BEAT for. The claims of 25% ownership are false and for a artist to brag about splits on a song is distasteful to begin with.

Well, Drake is looking kind of foolish right about now because Kia does indeed own a percentage of the publishing rights to Drake's song. He needs to check into getting new advisors and/or management since they neglected to tell him this and let him put himself out there like that.

"The Greatest R&B Singer of Our Generation"

Drake crowned Trey Songz "The Greatest R & B Singer of Our Generation" in his intro at the Canal Room in NYC on Sunday. They should have rolled Drake's injured behind to the stage in a wheelchair like when he was on Degrassi Jr. High. I got a feeling a twitt-traction is on the way....

If Omarion was let go from Cash Money for leaking a track, should Drake get static for leaving Cash Money's tour with an injured ACL then show up at someone else's (his alleged boyfriend's) concert?!

Drake only dates cougars

22-year-old hip hop phenomenon Drake told MTV News why he only dates cougars:

"I used to talk to this woman that was 35-plus...It was kind of, like, what she saw in me...We were doing things young people do, like just going swimming late at night. Just chilling, drinking, like kicking it, talking. But it was so intriguing for me. The appeal was obvious...But I like older women, period. I never end up dating, seriously, women that are my age."

I think that's kind of cute. On the other hand, WTF at that 35+? Like anything past 35 years old is some no-man's-land of old age. There is a huge difference between a 35 year-old woman, a 55-year-old woman and a 75-year-old woman (though I'm sure Tina Turner and Lena Horne can surely handle his young ass).

Drake fell again

Remember I reported the other day that Drake pulled out of his solo spots on the Young Money tour because of his injuries? He was afraid if he reinjured his ACL he might never walk again. Well, he fell onstage the other night. Pray for him y'all. (Somebody unfold that wheelchair...)

Drake doesn't want to be Wheelchair Jimmy

Drake has been forced to pull out from Weezy's Young Money Presents: The America's Most Wanted Music Festival Tour as a solo performers due to complications from his torn ACL ligament.
“I’m not doing my own set. That’s one thing I have to apologize to my fans about. It’s too much of a risk, if I hit that wrong turn (doing) 30 minutes every night. If I tear my ACL again, the doctors say I might not be able to walk again. I have to be cautious,” Drake told MTV.
Drake still plans to join the other tour headliners on stage for individual songs. To maintain the flow of the set, Drake has been replaced with Teyana Taylor Soulja Boy Bow Wow Nicki Minaj.

LA Times Reveals Drake's Record Deal

Under the unusually lucrative agreement he struck with Aspire/Young Money/Cash Money Records distributed through Universal, Drake received a $2-million advance. He retains the publishing rights to his songs and cedes only around 25% of his music sales revenues to the label as a “distribution fee,” his managers said. By contrast, the overwhelming majority of new artists sign financially restrictive “360 deals” that sap their touring and merchandise income and offer much more restrictive profit-sharing.

“The record company doesn’t have any ownership of Drake,” Cortez Bryant, Drake's manager, said. “The label does not have participation on profits. They don’t have ownership of his masters. We control his entire career. Those deals don’t happen anymore.”

There hasn’t been an upcoming artist with such a buzz since 50 Cent's debut in 2003. Drake has sold out concerts from his So Far So Gone Mixtape. The leading single “Best I Ever Had” has been receiving more then 1300 spins on radio, and has sold 600,000 digital downloads. He’s been featured on records with Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna and Fabolous. He’s currently working on his debut album “ Thank Me Later” and will embark a 22-city tour starting today, July 27th in Scranton,PA with Weezy, Young Jeezy, and Soulja Boy in “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival”.

Drake looks like such a square up there on stage with them. Kanye looks pissed. What was the effin point of having Weezy there if they had to bleep out 60% of what he said? What the hell is that on Lil Mama's head? It looks like left over kanekalon from Remy Ma's bangs. Baby is old as HELL--certainly too old to be walking around with his pants down like that. Who in Cash Money is doing anything besides Weezy? What were all those youngins doing on stage? Where is DCF when you need them?
