In another historic moment at the Oscars on Sunday, a woman won the Best Director category for the first time; Katherine Bigelow won for her Iraq War movie, The Hurt Locker, over her ex-husband James Cameron. Now, many critics had pegged Cameron to win, but you know there was a contingent of viewers who were hoping the award would go to Lee Daniels for Precious. Besides, you know the Academy voted for Hillary. The studio has not yet announced the DVD release date.

B*tch whatchu doin'?: woman pulls a Kanye at the Oscars

When the director of Music by Prudence came running down the aisle like he was on the Price is Right to accept his Oscar, the producer of the film Elinor Burkett--who had apparently been dismissed from the project--rushed the stage and pulled a Kanye interrupting him mid-syllable to monopolize his acceptance time.  He just stood there grinning hard and looking at her like "B*tch what the fcuk?"  Personally, I would have pushed her @ss into the orchestra pit, but that's just me.  I find it amazing the orchestra didn't start to play to drown her out or no security came up.  I find it even more amazing the media is NOT reporting on this incident at all!  Kanye's career took a nosedive after he interrupted Taylor Swift.  Who is speaking out for this dude?  No one but bloggers and Black folk, that's who.

Fashion at the Oscars: M'onique's dress killed it!

Monique's dress shined last night, which was fitting because it was HER night.  She was the best-dressed out of all the Best Supporting Actress nominees last night, and her hair and make up were flawless.  Gabby Sidibe was dressed in bold electric blue while her mother appeared in a classic black dress.  I was happy to see Gabby walk the red carpet with such confidence, but I thought her dress could have been bolder, less classic, and more flattering than it was.  I also felt she needed a bit more color in her makeup given the bright color of the dress.  Zoe Saldana appeared in shades of iridescent lavender.  I thought the bodice of the dress could have been more flattering given her petite frame, but her hair and make up were classic and tasteful.  Host Sherrie Shepperd sported what must have been an industrial brassiere to support her unbalanced look in that dress.  Her stylist also could have chosen something much more flattering given her recent and very public weight loss.  Host Vivica Fox chose a sleeveless black number that showed off her curves to perfection; unfortunately, her weave was not on point.  As a matter of fact, it was not even on her head properly.  Note to her hair stylist, a natural hairline for a woman does not begin all the way at the crown of her head.  What weave was there looked good, but her giant forhead and naked front of her head were distracting the entire time she was on camera.  Sherrie Shepperd should have hooked her up.

Rihanna is researching S&M now

Rihanna is researching S&M now.  (Well actually, B&D--don't ask how I know...)  According to The Mirror, Rihanna has been tapped to play a dominatrix in the remake of the 1985 cult classic The Last Dragon.  Samuel L. Jackson and the RZA have also signed on to the production.  Will Vanity make a cameo?  I'm not going to pass judgment before I see the movie, but I highly doubt anyone could top the original Bruce Leroy and Sho'Nuff.  I still have dreams about Taimak's fine self with all that light coming out of his curls.  Don't judge...

Michael Jackson's This Is It #1 in video sales

According to Home Media Magazine, Michael Jackson's This Is It rocketed to the number one position on national home video sales charts in its first week of release selling 1.2 million copies in the U.S. alone. This is a record performance for first week sales of a music film. According to Nielsen VideoScan, the film was also the number 1 seller in the Blu Ray format for the week ending January 31, 2010. Fully 21% of sales of This Is It were on the Blu Ray format, which is also a record for a release of any type.

This Is It chronicles the exhaustive rehearsals leading up to what would have been the largest concert tour ever. The documentary provides a glimpse of the creative genius that was Michael Jackson and offers the viewer the opportunity to meet the dancers, musicians, and crew behind the massive production. This Is It earned over a quarter of a billion dollars in its limited theatrical release worldwide.

Angelyne doesn't want to be Notorious

Diddy's Bad Boy film company is being sued for copyright infringement over a scene in the Biggie biopic Notorious  where a billboard can be seen. Model Angelyne, who appears on the billboard, is suing Bad Boy, Fox Searchlight Pictures, and State Street Pictures for using her image in the movie.

S. Africa says no; they want JHud to go

South African actors want to stop Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson from playing former South African President Nelson Mandela's wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in a new film. Members of the film union say casting a foreigner in such a large role undermines efforts to develop the national fim industry. The film will be directed by South African film-maker Darrell J. Roodt, whose films include "Cry, The Beloved Country" and "Sarafina."

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela continued her husband's political activism during his 27-year stint as a political prisoner and campaigned tirelessly for his release. She separated from Nelson Mandela in 1992, two years after his release from prison. Her image was tarnished by a series of scandals including her links to the kidnap and murder of a young activist and a 2003 conviction for fraud.

I went to see This Is It for the last time on Thursday

I went to see This Is It during the mid afternoon Thursday. There were not that many of us in the theater so I had my pick of seats. I was able to sing and do a little dancing without worrying about bothering anyone else. I was excited all day long thinking about going to the movies for one last time. I was on the edge of my seat anticipating each part as it came. The movie flew by this time, probably because I knew it would be my last time seeing it on the large screen. I felt myself becoming more and more emotional the closer we got to the finale. Tears started streaming down my face at the beginning of Man In The Mirror, then I started sobbing when Michael spread his arms at the end. I wanted to watch all the extras at the end (and I needed a minute to pull myself together), so I stayed until the house lights came on. I really couldn't even look at anyone else on my way out of the theater. Honestly, my grief felt fresh all over again. It was a bittersweet farewell on the three month anniversary of Michael's interment.

True Confessions:'twilight-new moon'..a cautionary tale

Our trash can is broken. So my wife says, "Let's run over to Bed,Bath and Beyond and pick out a new one, I have a $10 coupon." Kool and the Gang, we purchase a new can and some K-cups, then we go to Starbucks. I'm sipping on my chocolate espresso truffle, next thing I know my black ass is stitting in the AMC holding a giant pretzel watching previews, all of which should go straight to DVD and Robert Pattinson is in every one of them.

Anyway my review, obviously I didn't read any of the series of books but this grungy girl's boyfriend leaves her, he's a vampire who drives a Volvo, uses rear-view mirrors, goes to class, attends cocktail parties, wears crosses, lights candles, get they picture taken, buys garlic cloves at Publix, just does a bunch of things your average vampire doesn't do.

Grungy lady does dangerous, suicidal things to herself throughout the flick to see if her vampire-ex is still looking out for her including extreme motorcycling, hooking up with an entire motorcycle gang, moodily staring out the window for six months straight, not talking to her friends, slapping werewolves upside the head and cliff diving. I'm hoping all the time at some point she's successful so I can go home and watch football.

Personally, I thought she should have hung with the werewolves, but Courtney Love ends up flying to Italy to attend an Adam Lambert concert in a cathedral and to save her vampire boyfriend who was fixing to reveal himself (get publicly buck nekkid) at the Feast of the Miracle of St. Annas. Now, I may have told you the ending but I wouldn't know, I had to pee and soon the entire restroom was full so the film mercifully must have ended.

I rate a movie not by thumbs, but how it hurts your ass to sit through it. Using theatre chairs, its an inverse scale like golf, so the less theatre chairs the better. Sorry to say, 'twilight new-moon' gets 4 out of 5 chairs it was almost like the ass whuppin I got for lighting my drumsticks afire then playing them on the cardboard ice cream containers in the house. No worse than the argument I would of had to sit through if I didn't go to the movie.

Spike picks pimp-tale as next project

After publicly critizing Tyler Perry for his choice of television and movie projects, Spike Lee teams up with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua for the adaptation of the graphic novel 'Miss: Better Living Through Crime,' with Spike in the chair as executive producer.

A new company, Vigilante Entertainment, is developing the project, which revolves around Nola and Slim, two unlikely partners in crime in the 1920s and 30s in New York. Nola is a poor white girl who has learned to survive by hook or by crook since being expelled from the orphanage. Slim is a black pimp with an uncertain past, trying to keep one foot out of the grave. The story revolves around how the two forge a partnership as killers for hire.

Adapting the graphic novel is John Ridley, who wrote George Lucas' upcoming World War II action film 'Red Tails.'

Stevie Wonder can't handle TII

When asked, “Do you think he [Michael Jackson] would have wanted the movie to be released even though it’s all rehearsal footage?” Longtime friend Stevie Wonder emotionally replied, “I don’t know. I really don’t know...I haven’t seen the movie yet. I’m sure I will go see it but, emotionally, I can’t really handle going to see it now...“I will say that I hope the film, the movie is very successful and I hope that his children, his mother and the family get what they're supposed to receive.”

Translation: I hope Joe don't get shyt because Michael left him out of the will on purpose.
