Edwidge Danticat just received a half million dollars
Haitian-American novelist Edwidge Danticat was just awarded a $500,000 MacArthur Fellowship. The so-called "genius grant" is generally considered a pretigious recognition for an artists entire body of work and comes with no strings attached. I consider The Dew Breaker and Krik? Krak! to be among the best books I have ever read. Follow the link to read previews of her major works.
