Jay-Z and Beyonce top Forbes' list of highest earners

Jay-Z and Beyonce topped Forbes' lastest list of the highest-earning couples in entertainment, bringing in an estimated collective $122 million last year.  It would be nice to hear they donated a lot of that money to charities and non-profits in the style of Michael Jackson and Oprah rather than bragging about buying a $70 ro $80,000 purse.  One can only hope.

BeBe Winans Assault Charges Dismissed

In a press release Tuesday, it was announced that Judge Gloria Dumas of the General Sessions Court for Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County signed an order on Friday, December 4, 2009, dismissing all charges with prejudice. "With this order, I get me some Oprah show tickets and a meet and greet with Ms. O when I go visit my cousin for a Taste of Chicago next summer this domestic matter is over an cannot be reopened."

Back in February, Winans' wife accused him of shoving her during an argument. The misdemeanor charges of domestic assault have been hanging over his head pending a trial.

Winans' was supposed to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show as a guest judge for her karaoke competition, but she removed him from the panel pending his trial.

Oprah will announce today that her last show will be September 9, 2011. Her show will be replaced by the Gayle King Show and she will finally get married.

BeBe Winans is banned from Oprah for now...

O took a harsh moral stance on Chris Brown since he beat Rihanna. Well, BeBe Winans' wife, whoever she is,raised hell last week after the famous gospel singer appeared on Oprah. Winans was charged with domestic assault last winter, and he is due back in court in January. O through a rep responded: "BeBe will not be appearing on the 'Oprah' show until his legal(domestic violence) matters are resolved in court."

Oprah leaving Chicago for LA

Oprah Winfrey and the Discovery Network are preparing a press release announcing the move of her talk show from Chicago to Los Angeles when her current contract ends. Work in LA for the daytime talk show on the OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) should begin in 2011. The show will no longer be shown on local network stations.

Winfrey already owns a home in Montecito, CA near Santa Barbara, along with other real estate holdings around the country (including the Chicago studios). It appears with her own cable network, the advancement of other projects in the pipeline (Precious), her alliance with Tyler Perry, then include her new LA studio plans may forecast more film industry deals in the future.

For the LA premiere at AFI Fest...It appears the films' distributor Lionsgate has come to terms with the actress (details not disclosed) and Mo'Nique flew in from the ATL to attend. Precious opens nationwide on November 13th. Was Mo crazy to hold out from attending Precious premieres or trying to be a good bid'ness woman?

Mike Tyson made a very emotional appearance on Oprah yesterday. He admitted to slapping former wife Robin Givens, but said the relationship was mutually abusive. (Hmmm, where have we heard that before?) He calls his recently-deceased young daughter his "angel" and confesses he couldn't bear to know the details of her tragic death.

Chris Rock's NEXT Film is a Oprah Collabo

Chris Rock will star in a new film about a white man's amusing attempts to make an African-American friend, reports Variety.

The movie is based on a GQ magazine article, "Will You Be My Black Friend?" in which writer Devin Freidman - a white man in his mid-30's - chronicled how he tried to befriend a black man by placing an ad on Craig's List.

"Admitting that you count your black friends is a violation of the Unracist White Person Magna Carta," wrote Freidman. "It was possible at the time, we could have a black president and still not have a very mixed country." "But really, I couldn't handle walking around knowing that I have the same number of black friends as George W. Bush."

Published in GQ's November 2008 issue, the article is an eye-opening, if somewhat tongue-in-cheek look at race relations. Harpo Films, Oprah Winfrey's (who is also considered to be a pseudo-white friend to many in her audience) production company, partnered with movie studio Lionsgate to buy the rights to the story and make it a star vehicle for Rock. Is Rock planning to play the white dude?

Tyler Perry Announces Dream Cast for 'Colored Girls'

When it was announced last week that Tyler Perry will be writing, directing and producing a film version of Ntozake Shange's award-winning 1975 play 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf,' there was plenty of talk as to who would be cast.

Well, while promoting his latest film, 'I Can Do Bad All By Myself,' which opens Sept. 11, Perry talked about who he wanted to appear in the movie. Among the chosen few are Oscar winner Halle Berry, Angela Bassett, Ruby Dee, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Thandie Newton, Kimberly Elise, Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys.

Of the 11 actresses mentioned, six have already committed to be in the film, but Perry wouldn't say who exactly. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Atlanta in November and continue through December, with a release planned for next year.

Oprah will have a whole Michael show

Oprah Winfrey will dedicate her entire show to Michael Jackson on September 16th. The show will feature never-before-see outtakes from her 1993 interview with him. Oprah has yet to issue any sort of statement regarding Michael's passing and she was not necessarily sympathetic towards him during that infamous interview where, for the first time publicly, he revealed he suffered from vitiligo. I sincerely hope Ms. O is not planning to hop on the "Bash Michael" bandwagon populated by the likes of Diane Dimond and her ilk. Class and respect better be the words of the day Oprah. Tread lightly.

Whitney Will Open O's 24th Season

Oprah is launching her 24th season of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” with what she calls “the most anticipated music interview of the decade,” a must-see television event with singing icon Whitney Houston. This marks Houston’s first interview in nearly seven years and follows the release of her highly touted new album, “I Look To You” on August 31, 2009. “The Oprah Winfrey Show: Exclusive: Whitney Houston’s First Interview” airs Monday, September 14th.

Oprah has done a 180 from her beef with Ludacris and the rap industry in general to gushing like a school girl over Hova. Oprah got all googly eyed during a radio interview with BFF Gayle King:

“Jay-Z is my new best friend! He was so charming and delightful — and he smelled so good. It’s the kind of thing where you hug a guy and the scent is sort of buried in them. When we went to the second location I could still smell him on me it was like, ‘oh my, this is wonderful!’”

It's Never Too Late To Say You're Sorry

Remember when Oprah hailed James Frey's A Million Little Pieces as the next coming? The book shot up the Best Seller list and she had him on her show. It later came out he embellished parts of the memoir about addiction. His publisher dropped him, his car broke down, his wife left him, and his dog ran away. OK, only the first part of that sentence is true, but Oprah publicly shamed him on her show. She really let him have it saying he duped everyone and she felt he betrayed his readers.

Oprah called Frey last Fall to apologize for her treatment of him on the show. Frey said Winfrey called to tell him "I felt I owe you an apology," and she explained that her lambasting of him sprang from her sense of feeling betrayed, according to a Vanity Fair report.
"It was a nice surprise to hear from her, and I really appreciated the call and the sentiment."
