Tyra Banks Show Cancelled?

Apparently the show got too expensive for the CW (Warner Bros.) to produce in NYC, noone's picked it up, so they pulled the plug. Of course you already knew she didn't treat her emplyoyees the way Oprah does. This Christmas, the staff got pink slips instead of gifts. Joel McHale must be crying in his Talk Soup.

I'm sorry but we cannot make you America's Next Top Talk Show Host

After five years on the air with the Tyra Banks Show, talk show host, model, actress, and producer Tyra Banks has announced she will retire next Spring.  Tyra's retirement comes as a surprise to some who thought she would be strategically planner her next moves in the wake of Oprah's announced retirement.  Tyra says she wants to focus on film and tv development deals, while others say she wants to devote more time to starting a family.  We wish her the best of luck.

Tyra Banks styled herself like Kim Kardashian for Halloween. Personally, I wonder whether it is really a compliment when someone dresses as you for a holiday like this...though she really favors her here.

ANTM Finalists 'Blackfaced' for Photoshoot

Continuing the resurgence of a makeup practice long considered taboo, "America's Next Top Model" featured a number of models painted with dark makeup to resemble bi-racial women on Wednesday's telecast. Out of "ANTM's" six remaining contestants, one is black, one is Asian and four are Caucasian.

This is the second time models have been shown in dark makeup in recent weeks.French Vogue photographed model Lara Stone in blackface for its October issue, which was particularly disturbing because the offending pictures were part of an issue celebrating models, but had nary a black model in the magazine. Must be considered 'art' and eligible for a NAACP Image Award only when Miss Tyra does it.

Tyra's got a brand new body

Tyra Banks unveiled her newly trimmed down body with a photoshoot in NYC on Monday. Two years ago there was a media frenzy when pictures leaked of Banks in a bathing suit bigger than a size 7. Some reports say Banks gained so much weight over the past three years she got up to a size 16. Banks told CNN's Larry King, "When I told the world to kiss my fat ass, I remained that size for two years. I maintained it with my ice cream and my salad with ranch dressing and croutons and bacon bits." Now she wears a size 8 and is feeling fine.

Speaking of Tyra...According to Forbes Magazine, Tyra Banks is the Queen of Prime Time moneymakers earning $30 million in the last 12 months. She has the entire prime time schedule of the CW (can't watch) Network on lock.

Is this cute? Tyra Banks had 9-year-old Diva Davanna on America's Next Top Model to demonstrate modeling to the contestants. She came out dressed as a twin to Ms. Jay (who even with makeup looks like...Mr. Jay) and strutted on that runway like her name was Eva Pigford. She looked and modeled just as well or better than the adult contestants on the show. My question is, should a 9-year-old be tarted up with weave and heavy makeup and be twisting and serving it up? Didn't we all cringe in disgust when JonBenet Ramsay did this? What happened to letting a kid be a kid?

Tyra is a diva

When asked why fellow supermodels Paula Porzikova and Janice DICKerson did not last on the America's Next Top Model show, Tyra did not really have an explanation. Allegedly, both models were dismissed as judges shortly after having production disagreements with Tyra, the show's creator. The real reason is, Tyra is a diva and there can only be one real diva (sorry Ms. J) on set at a time. Whatever the issues were, it was Tyra's show and her call. Janice went on to have her own show where she (IMO) treated her employees and models very poorly. I really don't see her appeal as a model, then or now. As for Paula, I hope she saved those checks.

Did you know Joy Bryant wears a weave? Well, I didn't until I read her blog musings on maintaining a weave and Tyra's unveiling of her own hair. Click here to read her original blog post. I have posted my own comment below. What are your thoughts?

I had absolutely no idea you wore a weave, Joy. While I have natural hair I say wear what you want to wear when you want to wear it. (Now, I'm not above clowning someone whose weave looks like pre-school yarn, but wear what makes you happy.) The only thing that gave me pause was your statement that you feal "human again" after getting your weave done. From that statement I infer you somehow felt "inhuman" wearing your natural God-given hair. I find that a bit sad because you are a beautiful woman; the insecurities you experience are all too human. My greatest hope for all weave-wearers is they hold their own hair in highest regard and see weave as just another option in their fashion arsenal.

You would think her scalp sprouted solid gold filaments with the amount of talking she's doing about her hair. Why on Earth is she producing so much hype about something we all have? Here is her tweet:

“Here’s me rockin my REAL hair, had 2 blur it so its still a surprise on Sept 8!” I’ve totally missed her promos but apparently she will be going weave free for the season premiere of the Tyra Banks Show “Guess What! No? Well, you are not alone. Most likely no one but her hair dresser remembers what her real hair even looks like. Tyra tweeted she plans to reveal the real hair lurking under her mega-weaves on her show next month:

Kim Kardashian is set to appear as a judge on the October 21st airing of America's Next Top Model. To my knowledge Kim K. has only "modeled" in Playboy and that snoozefest sex tape with Ray J., however supposedly Tyra values her experience as a boutique owner and celebrity stylist. Whatever...

America's Next Top Model is going petite

America's Next Top Model will premiere on September 9th with model Chanel Iman followed by an appearance from 'The Hills' star Lauren Conrad. Conrad will debut her own fashion line on September 16th. Other famous models such as China Chow, Jessica White, Marisa Miller, Jaime Rishar, and Kirsty Hume will appear later in the series. This season marks the first time all the contestants are 5'7" or under. Who says Tyra doesn't give everyone a chance?

Tyra's stalker gets 1 year probation

Brady Greene, the Georgia man convicted in April of stalking model and talk show host, Tyra Banks, was sentenced to one year probation yesterday. Greene must also stay away from Tyra for two years. Greene rode a bus for 4 days from LA to NY where he had no job, friends, or place to stay, then went straight to Tyra's studio. He threatened to cut a staffer's throat and allegedly asked "Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?" when they wouldn't tell him where Tyra was; when he was arrested, he told officers he and Tyra "had a thing together."

Tyra is forever complaining on her show about the lack of available men and here she is turning away one who is literally willing to go to the ends of the earth for her. SMH and LOL

Tyra's got a boyfriend

Tyra was spotted last week on a romantic date in Hawaii with her boyfriend of one year, John Utendahl. Utendahl is the founder and owner of the Utendahl Group, the largest African-American-owned investment banking organization in the U.S.

Raise your hand if you knew she was dating anyone? Hasn't she done umpteen shows and interviews about how she can't find a man because men are intimidated by her? He's tall, rich, smart, and they look good together. Work it!

Supermodel Claims Tyra Has A Big Ego

Former supermodel Paulina Porzikova has been making the rounds at Access Hollywood and The Billy Banks Show to complain about parting ways with Tyra Banks' show America's Next Top Model. Porzikova claims she was fired because of her complaints about Tyra's constant tardiness to the judging sessions.

“I must admit I was having a little bit of an issue with Tyra being late for every judging,” she told Billy. “It’s six hours later and I feel like I am being told my time is not as valuable as hers. They pointed out that I should shut up and be grateful for the job and that Tyra is really busy.
I think that my little hissy fits about ‘Well, we are all here on time. Why can’t she (Tyra)?’ didn’t go over all that well,” said Paulina.

When asked whether she thought she was fired because she was the only woman on the panel besides Tyra (Porzikova replaced Twiggy as a judge), she replied, “I don’t think that in Tyra’s universe that’s even a consideration. I don’t think she cares. I’m not even sure she was aware that I existed way out there in Siberia, much like I am not sure she knew Twiggy existed...[when] we are on set talking to each other in front of the cameras...that is the only time she would speak to me.”
