123, 4-5, 678, 9-10, 11, 12!

Yesterday Sesame Street celebrated 40 years of educating children with an episode featuring First Lady Michelle Obama teaching the neighborhood children how to garden. Did you know James Earl Jones was the show's first guest star in 1969? Or that the South African version of Sesame Street--Takalani Sesame--features an orange, HIV postive Muppet orphan named Kami? Or that the show inspired a Tony-winning Broadway musical called Avenue Q?

  1. Wow! 40 years? I can't believe it. My parents and I grew up on Sesame St. I hope it will be around for my kids too.
