The Recipient of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize is.....

President Obama

For one of America's youngest presidents, in office less than nine months — and only for 12 days before the Nobel nomination deadline last February — it was an enormous honor.

The prize seems to be more for Obama's promise than for his performance. The Nobel committee cited as his key accomplishment "a new climate in international politics." The president has become "the world's leading spokesman" for its agenda, the committee said. The Nobel committee, it seems, had the audacity to hope that he'll eventually produce a record worthy of its prize.

  4. Not trying to offend anyone, but what did Obama do to earn this? It seems awfully premature and imo he just hasn't done enough and yes, I'm black. As one article wrote: 'He leads a nation still waging two wars and has ordered more troops into afghanistan'. He hasn't taken any real action to do all the things he's talked about...but yet in his speeches keeps uttering the word, change. After the Bush administration, are we so eager for change that we see it even if it's not really there? If you hear something enough you start to believe it and thus the kool-aid has been drunk. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela deserved the Nobel without question and Barack is definitely not in that league. This is just another stroke to his ego. I love my people and my country, but just b/c someone is black doesn't mean they get a pass.

  5. you didn't offend anyone-because you're right.

And when I heard Obama speak today he said he didn't deserve it. One thing you DID NOT mention was he has without a doubt changed Americas' perception overseas (that's why he got the award). He's really hasn't started or gotten too far on his work at home yet-agreed
