Good Hair might not be so good for Chris Rock
Chris Rock on Jay Leno
Faster than you can say "red carpet" someone has slapped a lawsuit on Chris Rock for his film "Good Hair." Chris and Nia Long have been hitting the talk show and magazine circuit to hheavily promote the documentary about the complicated relationship between Black women and their hair. A woman named Regina Kimbell claims she screened her documentary "My Nappy Roots" for Chris on the set of his television show "Everyone Hates Chris." Kimbell's film features (unnamed) celebrities discussing the evolution of various hairstyles throughout the Black community. Kimbell claims Chris co-opted her idea which won her the Best Documentary award at the Black Hollywood Film Festival in 2007. She is seeking at least $5 million in damages. In his defense, Chris has been telling interviewers he was inspired to do the film after conversations he had with his young daughter.

I really hope he didn't steal this. That's all we need is another scandal with black celebrities.
ReplyDeleteI have seen excerpts of his movie. It looks original. That lady wasn't the first person to want to talk about black hair. People kill me with this. We have known about Chris's movie all year. She waited until a few days before it hits the theaters to file this shit? I smell a rat.
