Kandi Burrus, formerly of Xscape and now a star on Real Housewives of Atlanta, really needs an intervention. I'm sure you know by now Kandi is engaged to AJ, father of six (with four babymamas). Kandi has one daughter from a previous relationship. Her daughter is uncomfortable with the engagement and her mother is positively against it. Well, Kandi recently told Essence.com she and AJ have put their engagement on hiatus.
What's the issue then, you say? Well...Kandi now has custody of his 12 -year-old twin daughters. Say what? I said Kandi is now taken over legal guardianship of two of his six children from AJ's mama. *sigh* She says it's because the girls need a strong female role model in her life and he would have taken them, but...blah, blah, blah. This man wasn't even raising his own daughters. He had his mama doing it. Now Kandi is the one pulling his plow for him. Yes, she would have been one of their guardians if they had gotten married, but she says they aren't even together right now. (For the record, I don't buy that for a minute. She is just trying to get some of the negative heat off her, in my opinion.)
Not only has she taken on the responsibility of raising his kids, but when asked what exactly what it is he does for a living Kandi says, "AJ over time has done a lot of things, including running this collection agency while we were together and he just recently bought into this strip club." So is she saying he can't keep a job? Nevermind that. I can't believe she thinks it is a good idea for her daughter's future stepfather to be a proprieter of a strip club. I really thought she had a good head on her shoulders. I just can't with them today.
kandi is desperate and crazy. her mama should just let her go on and do what she wants to. she is determined to be a chickenhead so be it.

ReplyDeleteI can't beleive this! How could she be so stupid? Why is she taking care of his kids? See now he ain't gotta pay child support. She dumb enough to support them and raise them permanently. She probably still giving him money and paid for that strip club too.

ReplyDeleteI think Kandi really needs her mother in her life. She also said in that interview her mother won't answer her calls when she gets mad at her. Her mother needs to be there to give her guidance and be a voice of reason. Kandi obviously has low self esteem to be so desperate for a man who just doesn't have it together. He just isn't on her level. A man does not have to be rich but he should be able to support his family and raise his children if their mother cannot do it. I'll pray for her.
ReplyDeletei'm not gonna comment on the relationship (no need) but i give her mad props for taking on two kids that obviously need a strong role model. if more people did this with our black babies, maybe we'd be a lot better off.
ReplyDeleteThose kids were not foster kids they belonged to her fiance. Why couldn't he raise his own kids? If he wanted a good female influence in their lives he could have brought them around to see Kandi she could have taken them places. Why they got to live with her? Oh I forgot. So he can go hang in the strip club and "manage" his investment.
ReplyDeleteI honestly can't blame her mother for not talking to her. You can't help someone that doesn't believe they need help. There was absolutely NO reason for Kandi to seek guardianship of those kids. Where's their mother? Given everything we know about this situation, I wouldn't say Kandi qualifies as a 'strong female role model'... If AJ didn't see any problem with them living with his mother, Kandi should've stayed out of that mess. She's begging for trouble, and she's gonna get it!

ReplyDeleteEveryone else who made negative comments on Kandi's relationship with AJ---get a life. You shouldn't be so judgemental, especially when you don't know all the facts.
