Nas is $200,000 behind in child support

Nas is allegedly over $200,000 behind in his child support payments to Kelis for their infant son together; Nas has a court order to pay $51,000 a month in support.  He faces criminal contempt charges if he doesn't pay up.  I bet that milkshake is tasting pretty sour right about now.

Kelis signs with Will.I.Am

After much speculation following the release of a song titled "Acapella" on the internet last week, singer-songwriter Kelis has announced that she has signed to Interscope Records through Will.i.am Music Group.

Her as-yet-untitled album features production from the Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am as well as Free School, Boyz Noize, Burnz, DJ Ammo and David Guetta, who produced the above-mentioned retro-dance track.

Kelis' last label deal was with Jive Records, and she reportedly was dropped in late 2007.

Kelis released a statement saying,
“I love that I am now a new part of the Interscope family. 2010 is around the corner and I can't wait to put out new music and spend all Nas' money during his visitation duties this summer time with real music fans on tour again.”

Meanwhile, MTV reports that her estranged husband, Nas, was busted on a DUI rap September 10th after a routine safety check in Georgia when police smelled marijuana inside the rapper's Cadillac Escalade truck.

Nas isn't a sucker

Even though many media are reporting a Nas and Kelis reconciliation, Nas still isn't falling for the okedoke. According to Tee eM Zee, Nas recently filed papers seeking joint custody of their newborn son and seeking to bar Kelis from receiving spousal support. I don't see anything wrong with that. Kelis is a star in her own right and has plenty of her own money and a father should participate in the raising of his children, sooo. Of course, it seems he doesn't want to come up off of any paper...if he does get joint custody, I hope he takes it seriously.

The couple arrived together at New York hot spot Marquee for a private party. The rumor mill is buzzing that several celebrities were present and reportedly saw the pair being much friendlier than in recent months.

The internet is aflutter with rumors Nas may have another baby on the way. These rumors were further fanned by Kelis' twitter posts about 'cheaters' and such, nevermind that rumors ran rampant about Kelis cheating on Nas before and during their marriage. If Nas does have another baby on the way, does this make Kelis more sympathetic?

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Fellas, hopefully your marriage was about more than *ussy and your wife did more than fcuk you. If not, why get married in the first place? As far as Nas and Kelis, Kelis has a successful music career, so I don't understand why he has to hemorrhage all that money in spousal support. The spousal support is three times the child support amount. I would think the priority should be on their son. Maybe it was the gift cards that ticked the judge off.

Kelis tweeted about the baby--and Nas wasn't there

Kelis' PR team released this statement about the birth of her son:

“Kelis gave birth to Knight Jones last night on July 22nd around 9PM. Weighing a healthy 7.8lbs, the beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful. This was a natural birth and Kelis had been in labor since early Monday morning around 2AM. Knight was delivered in a NYC hospital with her mother and sister in the room. "

So it sounds like reports of Nas being barred from the birth room are true. The web is whispering Nas didn't show up until almost 15 hours after she went into labor AND that he was too intoxicated and rowdy to be allowed into the birthing suite. Kelis tweeted about the baby yesterday:

"Ok so I did it, he’s 7.8 pounds of the greatest stuff on earth…I was in labor for 3 of the longest most painful days of my life. I don’t understand when women say they don’t remember giving birth…I will remember for the rest of my life. He’s kinda perfect btw" --@Kelis

My only concern is, most modern doctors no longer allow a woman to labor that long for the safety of her baby and herself. I also never thought of Kelis as a no-epidural kind of chick. Maybe she recorded all her screams and cursing for a new album, no?

Timing is everything.....

Just hours after Kelis gave birth to her first child, a judge reportedly ordered her estranged husband, Nas, to pay her hefty sums in both spousal and child support.

According to The Associated Press, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled Thursday (July 23) that Nas must pay Kelis nearly $44,000 a month in support. The ruling is temporary until a follow-up hearing September 8, when it will be decided if the amount should be altered. In addition to the monthly support, Nas must also pay $45,000 to cover Kelis' attorney fees and for a forensic accountant.

Nas and his estranged wife Kelis had a little n*##er yesterday. At least, that's what their jackets would have you believe. (I still CANNOT believe they thought those outfits were a good idea.) Nas named him Knight. “My son's name is Knight. That's what I named the young God, Knight,” Nas told his fans in a concert just hours after the baby's birth.

Not to throw shade, but aren't the sons of kings generally referred to as princes? The son is a knight only if the King has been creeping! At least they didn't name him "One Night."

Nas vs Kelis Round Two

Nas responds to e-strange-d wife Kelis' demands for financial support as she prepares to give birth to the rapper's child, insisting his monthly salary is no where near as high as the she thinks it is.

He claims to have made around $4 million on his Def Jam deal not $11 million as his ex contends, and says his income has been on a steady decline, pulling in just $147,000 a month. With expenses of around $71,000 a month, including $10,000 a month in personal effects like clothes, Nas says he's not making much.

Nas, who says he wants to be "fully involved" in the parenting of their child, claims he's agreed to pay $350 for a stroller, $450 for a baby sling, $500 for a DNA test and $1,600 for two cribs. He thinks $5,000 a month is a more reasonable request than her $80,000, and within his budget.

The former couple is due to face off in a New York court on July 21st, when a judge will rule on the case. The child is also due this month.

Kelis is getting desperate for money

Kelis had her attorneys petition the judge to move up the court date for her support hearing. She claims she is broke and Nas is not providing any of the expenses for the baby they are expecting next month. The judge refused to move the court date.

Kelis spends more than $80,000 a month and she STILL goes out of the house looking like this? Just to refresh your memory, last week Kelis filed a petition in court against her husband Nas seeking coverage of such expenses as a $14,000 pe rmonth mortgage, $3500 for a baby nurse, and $15,000 per month for entertainment. Apparently Nas has been making up the difference between her $21,000 per month income and her $80,000 per month budget. Come on Kelis. I mean damn!

Even though she still has her $200,000 wedding ring, other jewelry, and other pricey assets, Kelis is crying broke and pointing the finger at her estranged husband, Nas. To remedy the situation, Kelis is demanding child support, spousal support, reimbursement for all pregnancy-related expenses, and one-half of all medical expenses after the birth of their first child together. She is also asking for $20,000 for baby clothing, furniture, strollers, and supplies and $3,500 for a baby nurse. What happened to your friends and family throwing you a baby shower?

Kelis scoffed at the idea of generating her own income to partially cover expenses saying, “My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid.” She also says she is entitled to maintain the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed. The couple currently has 5 homes, they eat in the best restaurants, and fly first class. Kelis gave a partial accounting of her assets to illustrate her standard of living.

“There were many expensive pieces [of jewelry] such as a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet that was recently appraised for $190,000. My engagement ring is an approximately nine-carat cushion-cut diamond solitaire. I have numerous watches…such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller and Chopard...”

According to Mrs. Jones’ publicist Tracy Nguyen, the woman on the tape is NOT Kelis and all claims and rumors supporting that are false!

”We’ve been able to verify that it’s not Kelis featured in that tape and a lawsuit for defamation of character is being filed."
