R & B legend John E. "Johnny" Carter, lead tenor and founding member of The Dells and the Flamingos, has passed away. Carter was a two-time inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Carter had hits such as "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "Golden Teardrops" with the Flamingos before eventually leaving for military service. He eventually left the Flamingos to join a group of school friends in The Dells. Carter and The Dells had a string of hits including "Stay in My Corner" and "Oh What A Night" and toured with Ray Charles. Robert Townsend loosely based his movie The Five Heartbeats on The Dells' career.

I like a few of those songs. I had no idea who sung them. RIP!
