Amerie gets pushed back
Amerie's new album In Love & War has been pushed back from August to September. Rumor has it the label has opted to use their limited funds to promote Mariah Carey's new album over Amerie. Mariah is a much bigger R & B superstar than Amerie. Them's the breaks. You be the judge. All I know is Mariah needs to get back to the groove of her early hits like Fantasy.

ReplyDeletei disagree, i genuinely think amerie can sing. her first cd was the shit! it was priced low to move easily, but once it gained popularity they raised the price. she can't dance to save her life and i bet she's a bit of a nerd underneath it all. i actually put a few of my friends onto her first cd. never got the second cd though. the song "one thing" just didn't grab me. she needs to get some good pr. hire her own team out of pocket if need be. if lady gaga can get pr to have everyone talking about her, why can't amerie?

ReplyDeleteWhatever to the naysayers, Amerie is not a Whitney. Hell no one is except maybe J Hud these days, but she can sing and dance. She also always put out great material, but she has never been promoted correctly. Her old label Sony only promoted one single from her and then her label would drop the ball on her and she would fade into the background. If you are really familiar with her albums (she has 3 btw) you would see has had plenty of material to release as singles such as All I Need, That's What U R, I Just Died, All I Have, I Hate To Luv U, and Crush. Her label were not doing their job. If those some of those songs were released she would have way better recognition as an artist by now and more hits. This woman is very talented and I just hate to see her get the short end of the stick again by Def Jam. Def Jam also did not do a good job at all promoting and choosing singles for Janet's album which is why she left the label. They didn't handle Mariah's last album right either. They released singles the fans didn't want released and all of those singles flopped except Touch My Body. This is why I didn't have a good feeling about Amerie signing to Def Jam because I knew they wouldn't have her back like they are supposed to. I feel bad for her because this has been happening to her ever since she debuted 7 years ago. She was pushed aside for years so that Sony could over promote Beyonce (who stole Amerie's style) and now she's being pushed aside for Mariah and Rihanna. I wish she had waited and signed to label that wasn't so crowded, but I will support no matter what because I know the odds she's up against and she consistently makes quality music I like.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Mariah's album, I just hope it's better than E=MC2 because it was garbage. It only sold well because of her name, a lot people were disappointed with that album. Her new single Obsessed is hot, so hopefully her new album will be hot too.
