Rihanna is researching S&M now

Rihanna is researching S&M now.  (Well actually, B&D--don't ask how I know...)  According to The Mirror, Rihanna has been tapped to play a dominatrix in the remake of the 1985 cult classic The Last Dragon.  Samuel L. Jackson and the RZA have also signed on to the production.  Will Vanity make a cameo?  I'm not going to pass judgment before I see the movie, but I highly doubt anyone could top the original Bruce Leroy and Sho'Nuff.  I still have dreams about Taimak's fine self with all that light coming out of his curls.  Don't judge...

Beyonce's little brother

TMZ is reporting they have the first ever pics of what is allegedly Beyonce's little brother; How do they get this $hit?  Alexsandra Wright claimed back in October that she was pregnant with Matthew Knowles' child and that they had been having an affair for the past 18 months.  Knowles denied the affair, but he and his wife of nearly 30 years, Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles quietly got divorced months later.  Wright gave birth to a boy on February 4, 2010; her lawyers will go to court today to seek child support for the baby.  Lawyers for Knowles deny the paternity of the child and deny any rumors relating to Wright and the baby.

Boxer Evander Holyfield's wife says he beat her

Legendary boxer Evander Holyfield's wife Candi Calvana filed for a temporary protective order against her husband claiming he hit her in the face.  According to Radaronline, Calvana says the two were engaged in an argument over the heat in their mansion being shut off when he reached out and hit her in her face.  She says this isn't the first time he has gotten physical with her, writing in the request for the restraining order:

““He told me I was only thinking about myself, the children’s hearts beat faster...In 2008 he choked me in front of our daughter and housekeeper. In 2009 he has hit me in front of the children. He has grabbed me in front of the children. A couple of weeks ago he threw a bottle of water at me.”

If this is true, Holyfield can expect to be in a world of hurt.  In many instances, use of force against another person by a boxer can be considered an even more serious crime than assault committed by a regular person.  Plus, if they can't keep the heat on now, imagine what his bank account will look like after she gets through divorcing him--and they have kids?  Oh hell naw!  The media is already salivating trying to find the next Chris Brown/Rihanna story to beat into the ground, so he can kiss his ass(ets) goodbye.

Erykah Badu feat. Lil' Wayne: "Jump Up In the Air (Stay There)"

I adore Erykah.  It's good to see her making new music.  Even though Wayne threatens to become overexposed due to his push to appear in everything before he is hauled off to jail, his turn here keeps things fresh.  Between them they could field a basketball team with all their kids.

Actor Louis Gossett, Jr. has cancer

Oscar-, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. announced he has early-stage prostate cancer this week.  Gossett said he was going public with his illness "to set an example for the large number of African-American men who are victims of this disease because of the comparatively low emphasis in our community on preventive examinations and early treatment...I count this diagnosis among the many challenges I have faced in my life and overcome...I expect this to be no different."

Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen dead at age 40

British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London apartment yesterday at age 40.  He paid particular attention to structure, shape, and color and was heralded as an impeccable tailor, but he was most known for his flair for the dramatic.

InStyle Magazine's fashion editor Hal Rubenstein recalled, "He was an unbelievable showman. This wasn't someone who would ever dream of sending a collection down a white runway with you sitting politely in your seats," he said. Rubenstein reminisced about one of McQueen's shows where he projected a 3-D hologram image of Kate Moss on the runway, giving the illusion that the supermodel was trapped in a prism.  He also remembered another where McQueen sent his models down the runway accompanied by live wolves.  McQueen's shows were anything but dull and conservative.

Designer Betsy Johnson said McQueen was "the most inspiring, creative, genius designer of now." Vogue editor Anna Wintour said, "Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing -- from street style, to music culture and the world's museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss."

McQueen was to present his new collection McQ at New York's Fashion Week this week; his show has been cancelled.

Florida state trooper arrested for issuing fake tickets

Florida state trooper Paul C. Lawrence has been arrested on charges of issuing hundreds of fake tickets to unsuspecting drivers to boost his numbers to meet his quota.  He was caught slipping when dozens of people complained of losing their driver's licenses due to unpaid tickets they had no idea they had ever received; many of these drivers were able to prove beyond a doubt they were somewhere other than the location printed on the ticket at the time the tickets were issued.  Over 200 tickets have been dismissed so far; the fraud is thought to be so far-reaching, the Florida Highway Patrol has set up a hotline to try to ferret out more victims.  Lawrence is charged with 22 counts of official misconduct; he has been placed on administrative leave pending conclusion of the investigation.
