Title Fight: Bernice and Martin vs. Dexter King over movie

Dreamworks is planning the first movie portrayal of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. involving his licensed words and images, but two of Dr. King's children say the deal was done without their consent. Steven Speilberg will co-produce. His brother and sister, Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, said they had no input in the deal.

"This is a deal that Mr. Spielberg and his people ... have entered into believing that they have the blessing of The King Estate. They don't have the blessings of Bernice and Martin King," Bernice King told The Associated Press in a telephone interview on Tuesday. She and her brother Martin found out about the deal in an e-mail from their brother Dexter. Martin Luther King III said brokering the deal without their input was typical of Dexter's handling of the estate.

The three siblings have had numerous legal disputes regarding their parents' intellectual property in the past year alone and still have at least three ongoing lawsuits.

  1. Dexter is a money-hungrey jerk. He is pimping out his parents' image. He should be ashamed.

  2. I wonder who gains control when he dies? They should look into that.

  3. I wonder if anything can be done to remove him or at least give the other two equal power in the organization.

  5. Bernice look nice. It's a shame that dog Dexter look just like his daddy. He sure doesn't act like him.
