See? This is why you can't let things slide

French Vogue is at the center of an international firestorm after publishing pictures of a white model in blackface. There are some who say the shoot was not racist in its intent. What do you think?

  1. Why didn't they just use a black model for this particular shoot. This scrawny thing looks awfully coonish.

  2. I know right? There are thousands of black African models in Paris who would have jumped at the chance to be in French Vogue. They probably would have done it for free. This is nonsense.

  3. on the November cover of AMERICAN Teen Vogue there is a 19 year-old BLACK UNWED pregnant teen on the cover...
Naomi Campbell's been trying to pass for white her whole career-this made up controversy in France is nonsense

  4. Last time I checked 19 year olds are legal adults so she could have been 39 for all I care. Naomi is well aware she is black. She has spoken out on racism in the industry numerous times. What's your point?

  5. youre overlooking a racist stereotype (black unwed teen) on the cover of an american magazine vs magazine in another country that the objective in the first place was to manipulate you into being outraged-they've obviously succeeded

  6. I think you're wrong. Like Kennedy said there are plenty of black models who could have given the photo that "black look". That girl isn't even that attractive to me.

  7. I don't think they were trying to make any kind of post-racial kumbayah statement. They just thought they could get away with this because they are French Vogue is all. I think this is deplorable. Imagine if Time Magazine had put someone on the cover in black face? What about UsWeekly? Would it be ok then?

  8. sandra rose is calling this garbage, art & classy. i've seen most of the pictures to this shoot and i'm really appalled. like most here have said, why didn't they just use black models...but this is a way for vogue to be controversial and just another marketing stunt. they knew people would be upset and talking about it, that was the point. YT makes me sick!
