Pontiac Silverdome SOLD...for less than a house

The former home of the Detroit Lions was auctioned off for a fraction of the $55.7 million it cost to build. A Toronto-based family-owned company bid $583,000 for the under-used 80,000 seat stadium on Monday, which is currently owned by the City of Pontiac, Mich., according to auctioneer Williams & Williams. The company plans to refurbish the Silverdome into a stadium for men's Major League Soccer and women's professional soccer teams, said the auctioneer.

The sale of the Silverdome takes a large financial burden off the hard-hit city of Pontiac, which has fallen on hard times since the GM plant closed there. The city could ill afford to continue paying $1.5 million in annual upkeep for the stadium. With a private owner, the property will go back on the tax rolls.

It's So Cold in the 'D'

Thousands of people showed up at Cobo Arena and outside neighborhood centers in Detroit Tuesday to get free stimulus money being offered to only 3,500 of the city's recently or soon to be homeless. The line around the downtown convention center started forming well before daybreak. Anger flared within a few hours as more people sought out a dwindling number of applications for the program. Members of the Detroit Police Department's Gang Squad and other tactical units were called in for crowd control. Check the news clip for details...

It's So Cold In the "D"

"T.D." McCoy

A Michigan man on a dinner date not only fled the restaurant sticking his female companion with the check, he even stole her car, according to police.

Terrance Dejuan McCoy, 23, and an unidentified woman had dinner at a Buffalo Beef and Wangs in the Detroit suburb of Ferndale on April 24. The woman, who knew McCoy only as "Chris," had met him at a Detroit casino the week before. When the check came, McCoy claimed he had left his wallet in the woman's 2000 Chevrolet Impala. He then asked to borrow her car keys - and never came back. The woman told police she also had a backpack with $300 cash inside the car, along with a laptop computer, iPod and a digital camera.

It wasn't hard for cops to track McCoy down. According to the Daily Tribune of Royal Oak, he was identified by a photo and a phone number he had sent to the woman's cell phone. McCoy was charged with unlawfully taking the car, a felony that could get him up to five years in jail if convicted. His trial is set to begin this Thursday.

It's a safe bet there won't be a second date.

Cold Blooded

A South Florida woman was arrested last Wednesday for allegedly hiring an undercover police officer to kill her husband of six months, authorities said. She thought she was going to get away with the perfect crime; instead she got flat cold ass busted.

Dalia Dippolito, 26, was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and taken to the Palm Beach County jail. Dippolito is currently out on bond.

Dippolito gave an informant (who turned out to be her boyfriend and wanted no part of the scheme), pictures of her husband, 38-year-old Michael Dippolito, and $1,200 for a hit man to purchase a handgun, according to a probable cause affidavit. She also offered to create an alibi for herself and detailed her husband's daily schedule.

An undercover officer posing as a hit man called Dippolito on Monday afternoon and arranged a meeting. The officer asked for $3,000 in cash and a key to the couple's home. The undercover officer later met Dippolito in a CVS parking lot and asked if she was sure she wanted her husband killed.

She laughed, according to the affidavit, and said: "I will be very happy."

Dippolito discussed getaway routes, her home's security system, the location of her husband on Wednesday and the fee for the task, and the officer again asked if the woman was sure. "I'm not going to change my mind," she responded, according to the documents. "I am 5,000 percent sure I want it done. When I set my mind to something, I get it done."

Authorities staged an elaborate crime scene outside the Dippolito home on Wednesday morning, complete with yellow crime tape and several police vehicles.

"The bottom line is, we wanted her to believe without question that when she arrived that her husband was dead," Slater said.

Officers then contacted Dippolito at her L.A. Fitness gym and told the real estate agent to come to the house. When an officer told Dippolito that her husband was dead, she broke down in hysterics, a video of the operation shows (and you can check the video out above).

Dippolito was then taken to the Boynton Beach Police Department, where she was told of the investigation and arrested. Michael Dippolito, who was informed of the case Wednesday morning, was also at the police department, as was the undercover officer who Dalia Dippolito believed was going to kill her husband, according to a police news release. On July 31, Michael Dippolito, 38, transferred the deed to the home the couple shared solely to his soon to be ex-wife's name to "protect his assets," his attorney Michael Entin said.

The Outlaw Lil' Wayne

In a recent interview with Ozone Magazine, Weezy--apparently unaware the tape recorder was still on--started to brag about his tear drop tats. He crowed, “I will murder you, your family your child your son, your newborn”. My nomination of him for Father of the Year has already been signed, sealed, and delivered. Now it's your turn.

Don Cornelius Vants to Die Alone

There's more "death talk' of another black music trailblazer.
Don Cornelius, in an effort to condemn the concept of marriage, has gone totally morbid on us.

TMZ is reporting that the 'Soul Train' czar was so eager to get a divorce from his ex-wife Viktoria, that he actually put the following lines in divorce papers he submitted to L.A. County Superior Court:
"I am 72 years old. I have significant health issues. I want to finalize this divorce before I die." Looks like he's been obliged by the judge.

Heir McNair

Steve McNair reportedly died with no Last Will and Testament, leaving his estate in a shambles. McNair's wife, Mechelle, petitioned a probate court judge for control over his estate so she could meet the day-to-day needs of herself and their two children. The judge granted her petition and gave her 60 days to give an accounting of the estate. Mechelle listed herself and their two children as heirs to the estate and omitted any mention of Steve's two sons from a previous relationship.

more on the McNair affair

I am soo tired of the following:

1. police and media referring to her as a "girlfriend" Jump-off or side piece would be the proper terminology
2. media continuing to interview her friends and family who have repeatedly lied to sugarcoat her personality and situation
3. media ignoring the racy and hoeish nature of all those photos she posted on Facebook with her T & A hanging out. Can we at least get a comment?
4. media acting as if it is perfectly acceptable and legal to leave home at age 15 to move to another state with your adult boyfriend. Would someone please question her family about THIS? How the hell were they raising her? Could we get some charges filed against that boyfriend for statutory rape? Can we charge her parents with something please or at least make them understand they were not going about things the right way?
5. people making excuses for the "stress" in her life. If worrying about making rent and car note are valid excuses for murder, I'm about to go postal on a select few people. The stuff they are talking about is normal everyday stuff. The fact that she couldn't handle it is further proof she had ongoing mental issues--issues I'm sure her friends and family were aware of.
6. media continuing to ignore the fact this girl knew he had a wife and kids, even met his family when they came in to eat at the restaurant where she waitressed. She gave nary a thought to his kids when he was flying her all over the country on lavish vacations or showering her with gifts. Even if he said he was getting divorced (which, by the way, sounds like some bull she and/or her sister-cousin cooked up to make her look less like a homewrecker because no papers were ever filed and the wife doesn't know anything about it) he was STILL MARRIED. "Getting divorced" isn't the same as "divorced."
7. Media ignoring the fact she had an unregistered, unlicensed handgun she purchased illegally from a co-worker. Can we at least get an arrest there?
8. If the jump-off had been named Shaniqua instead of Shahel, they would have ruled on cause of death at the scene. Her co-worker would have been in jail and her family would have been ignored. The media might have delved into her past, painting her as a loose woman who was looking to make a buck off McNair and lost it when it didn't pay off. Her family wouldn't have been given a chance to defend her character. We wouldn't have heard about her dead mother. She wouldn't be given the title girlfriend or even mistress. She would have been labeled "regular call girl" or something along those lines. They might have even sprinkled some crack around the scene a la Dave Chappelle. I'm just saying...

T-Pain pays homage to his fallen homie Dolla

Remember when rapper Dolla was gunned down last month? If not, click here. Anyway, instead of just getting a t-shirt or a tatt, T-Pain took it to the next level and put Dolla on his car.

It's So Coooool in the D!

I'm starting something new here called Kickback Sundays. I'll post my favorite videos from the net on here and you can kick back and enjoy.

This first one is an oldie but a goodie. I just love how T Baby is so heartfelt and sincere. It's just too bad she is profane, tone deaf and rhythmless to boot. We won't even discuss the bright orange elementary school yarn weave, the wardrobe choices, or the poor cinematography. I laugh every.single.time I watch this video. This is fuckery at its finest as evidenced by the fact that this video has been viewed millions of times. Enjoy--oh and bring ya sweaters.
