TP gets sued by the 'Goodness of Jesus'

Tyler Perry has gotten into some hot water regarding some song lyrics featured in his 2009 movie, Madea Goes to Jail. The popular filmmaker is accused of lifting lyrics from a gospel song for the movie. According to a federal lawsuit, Tyler allegedly pirated an entire verse from “When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus,” written in 1950 by singer Bertha James.

No credit or payment was made for the lyrics used in a monologue by Perry’s Madea referencing her deliverance from a jail sentence and leniency for repetitive criminal conduct, in a staged court proceeding presided over by 'Judge Mabeline.' James’ estate is seeking NAACP donation money unspecified damages for copyright infringement from Perry and Lionsgate Entertainment which distributes his films.

  1. This isn't the first time someone has accused him of plagiarism. The sad thing is those scripts are some damn simple its a shame he can't write that shit himself.
