Whitney Houston should retire

Whitney Houston turned in another horrible live performance, this time in Brisbane, Australia. Reportedly, Whitney's voice cracked and she couldn't hit the high notes.  She ended up bringing out her brother to sing the high parts and stood there guzzling from water bottles when she should have been performing; angry Australian fans walked out of the concert in droves.  Given Whitney's string of poor performances at her Central Park debut, on the Oprah show (where she barely talked let along sung anything), Dancing With the Stars, and so on.  Despite Clive Davis' massive investment of time, money, and faith, I think it's safe to say her voice is cracked out.  She should just retire before she does any more damage to her reputation.  I hope it was worth it Whitney! Still love ya hon!

Washington DC legalized gay marriage

Washington D.C.'s city council voted to legalize gay marriage. Openly gay city councilman, David Catania, introduced the bill and the council voted in favor of it; only two opposing votes were made, one of which was cast by former D.C. mayor Marion "Bitch Set Me Up" Barry. You might recall Mayor Barry was caught on tape smoking crack in a sting operation in the 1990. The bill ws signed into law by D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and will take effect next Spring.

Amy Winehouse wants to remarry her 'Blake Incarcerated'

British soul singer Amy Winehouse wants to re-marry her beloved 'Blake Incarcerated'. Reportedly, she has asked him to marry her again and he is over the moon. The couple split several years ago after a toxic rollercoaster relationship which included repeated drug overdoses and domestic violence. The couple was often spotted intoxicated and disheveled in public. Amy's family and fans thought they scored a victory when approximately a year ago Amy relocated to the caribbean island of St. Lucia to rest, recuperate, and re-evaluate the direction of her life. According to Amy she has been drug-free and wants to adopt children. Many critics speculate a reunion with Fielder-Civil will undo all the positive work she has done towards her rehab and personal growth.

DJ AM's family suing aviation company for his death from drugs

DJ AM's estate is suing Clay Lacy Aviation, the company that chartered the plane that crashed carrying DJ AM and his colleagues. The family alleges wrongful death because "the crash ultimately caused Adam Goldstein's death." The suit states DJ AM began taking various drugs--prescription and street pharmaceuticals--due to emotional distress and burns suffered in the accident. The estate has also filed suit against Lear Jet, Goodyear Tire Co., the travel service that arranged their air travel, and the estates of the two plane pilots who perished in the crash.

DJ AM died of a prescription and cocaine drug overdose more than a year after that fateful plane crash. Reportedly, his body was found in bed with a bag of crack cocaine by his groin and a crack pipe at the ready; he had pill bottles in his kitchen. He had reportedly developed a dependence on benzodiazepines and Xanax due to his anxiety about flying. Friends say the benzos triggered a relapse to his drug of choice: crack cocaine. The question becomes, just how culpable are others for someone's illicit drug use? I also have to ask where was his family and friends while he was using? It seems to me they should have sought to hold someone responsible for the plane crash prior to his death.

I am on the fence about this one; it seems clear to me that doctors and handlers were largely responsible for the deaths of Michael Jackson and Anna Nicole Smith. I don't know enough about the AM case to come to a firm conclusion. I do believe sometimes people are just...crackheads...people who made poor choices and reallly have no one to blame but themselves. I'll be looking out for updates to this case.

is music producer Scott Storch who is hoping to rebuild his shattered career by working with another disgraced star. Storch signed up for a stint in rehab in April of this year after admitting blowing $30 million on cocaine. He then filed for bankruptcy one month later and has been struggling to rebuild his Tuff Jew Productions company ever since.

Storch who wrote 'Run It', acknowledges he's facing an uphill struggle to re-establish himself as a credible producer,and had to beg Chris Brown's team for the opportunity. This could be his break.

Scott Storch finally lost his mansion for good

Scott Storch, producer to such stars as Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, and Britney Spears, and rumored Lil Kim sugar daddy has lost his Palm Island Miami megamansion Villa Ferrari. Storch defaulted on payments for the 18,000 square foot home in July 2008 prompting the bank to initiate foreclosure procedures. Storch filed for bankruptcy in an attempt to stall the foreclosure, but his bid was rejected by the courts. SunTrust Bank bought the home at auction on Friday for $5.5 million--significantly less than the home's $10.5 million value (in 2008 dollars). Storch had an estimated net worth of $70 million in 2007. It's a recession. And cocaine is a heluva drug.

Study: Most US Currency Laced With Cocaine

A study that tested paper money found that nearly 90 percent of currency had traces of cocaine on it in big metropolitan areas in both Canada and the United States, National Geographic reports .

The study conducted by the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth tested currency from 30 big cities in five countries -- the U.S., Brazil, Canada, China and Japan. Brazil came in a close third to the North American nations with contamination on 80 percent of paper money. On the other end of the spectrum, in China and Japan, cocaine was present on less than 20 percent of banknotes.

Researchers were surprised to find evidence that more Americans are using the illegal drug, said study leader Yuegang Zuo. In a similar study by the same team in 2007 , 67 percent of U.S. bills were found to be tainted with cocaine. The drug gets on paper money during drug transactions and when people roll bills to snort cocaine powder, Zuo said.

The new findings could "help raise public awareness about cocaine use and lead to greater emphasis on curbing its abuse," Zuo said in an email.

The U.S. is the world's biggest cocaine market with an estimated 6 million Americans use cocaine each year, consuming somewhere between 259-447 tons of it, according to the UN World Drug Report .

Baltimore, Boston, Detroit and Washington, D.C., were among the cities with highest concentration of cocaine-laced bills at nearly 95 percent.

Whatever Happened to D'Angelo?

Since 2000's Grammy winning Voodoo we’ve waited for D’Angelo’s follow-up act, and … nothing. Here is the most recent update: according to Lindsay Guion, D’Angelo’s manager, no album will be released this summer (tentatively called James River). No collaborators have been confirmed. Potential collaborators include Prince, John Mayer, Cee-Lo Green, and Raphael Saadiq. The artist is living in Richmond. He’s recording there and in New York City, and he will deliver the tracks to his record company by September. Guion says they have just signed a contract for a U.S. tour that will begin around the holidays. So, the bottom line seems to be that nobody’s going to hear anything from D’Angelo at least well into the fall (or until he moves out of his local Ballys).
