The Oakland Transit Police settled for $1.5 million to provide for Oscar Grant's 5 year old daughter after an officer murdered him on New Years 2009. John Burris, the Grant family attorney originally sued the authority for $50 million but the family declined part ownership of the Raiders and took the cash instead.
